The "Shenmue" series, a jujitsu revenge story but also a slow life drama about driving a forklift and collecting capsule toys, will be adapted into an anime.

It will be co-produced by Crunchyroll and Adult Swim (like the upcoming "Blade Runner: Black Lotus" series), with Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki serving as executive producer. Directed by Riki Sakurai, creator of the second series of "One Punch Man," the animation is produced by Telecom Animation Films. Shenmue: The Animation" is scheduled to have 13 episodes, and may be produced until the middle of the first film.

"Shenmue 3" was released last year after 18 years since "Shenmue 2". In his review, Andy Kelly wrote, "This unlikely sequel stays true to the formula of the first two, as if the last 18 years of game design had never happened. And honestly, as a fan, I couldn't be happier."
