Dart 5, postponed for the second time

Codemasters' Mackie Racer, Dirt 5 has been postponed again. The rally game was supposed to be released on October 9, but was pushed back to October 16, and now has been delayed a second time to November 6.

Codemasters released a statement on Twitter, explaining that the decision was made "to take advantage of the anticipated launch of next generation consoles in time for the holiday season." Codemasters concluded the statement by saying that new videos and news will appear in the coming days through November, including a complete machine list and details on next-generation console features.

"Dirt 5" appears to be heading in a different direction than the other games in the series. For the first time, players will be able to create their own courses using an arena editor called Playgrounds, which will allow drivers to design, build, and share their creations. Combine this with selected game modes, and you're likely to be stuck on a high-powered course.

Alongside Playgrounds, there is an all-new career mode featuring familiar voice actors: Troy Baker, who has provided the vocal chords for "The Last of Us" and "Bioshock Infinite," "Marvel's Avengers will co-star with Nolan North of "Marvel's Avengers" fame. Baker and North played well together as the Drake brothers in "Uncharted 4," and it will be interesting to see how they perform as nemesis in "Dirt 5."

Dirt 5 will be released on PC and consoles on November 6, and will appear on Google Stadia in early 2021.
