Nvidia's Hot Fix GPU Driver Solves Ray Tracing Problems in Modern Warfare

It's been over a month since Nvidia released a full GPU driver package (452.06 WHQL), and now that the GeForce RTX 30 series has been officially announced, it won't be long before more detailed drivers are released. In the meantime, Nvidia has dropped an incremental hot fix (452.22) to address some nagging issues some of us are having.

One of the fixes relates to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Enabling ray tracing in the game may cause intermittent frame rate drops. Enabling ray tracing always degrades performance, but this fix addresses any further periodic drops.

Other fixes include:

If you are not experiencing these specific issues, you may want to avoid applying the hotfix. All of these issues will be reflected in the next driver update.

We can only speculate when Nvidia will issue the next major driver update, but with the first of the GeForce RTX 30 series coming out on September 17 (GeForce RTX 3080, followed by 3090 on September 24), the first few days before the cards hit retail likely to take place. That means within the next week.

As for the 452.22 hotfix, it is not something that appears in GeForce Experience. Instead, head to Nvidia's relevant support page to download and install it if applicable.
