Ninja is once again a Twitch exclusive

In August, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins began streaming on Twitch again after a hiatus from YouTube. But we told you then that it wasn't a full-fledged return yet: Blevins announced today that he has signed a new multi-year contract to stream exclusively on Twitch.

"I am excited to return to full-time streaming and connect with my loyal fan base," Blevins said in a statement.

"Twitch has been very supportive throughout this process and understands my overall career goals.

"In this next chapter of my career, I hope to elevate unspecified creators and reach a wider audience, and I look forward to working with Twitch to show how this amazing community of gamers can have a meaningful impact."

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but were likely generous: in January 2020, it was reported that he was paid $20-30 million to move from Twitch to Mixer; with Mixer's collapse, he may have been able to get a big payday "at any cost." While the eagerness to do so may have cooled, YouTube and Facebook are still in the game (Microsoft joined forces with Facebook after it shut down Mixer). At 10% of the reported Twitch deal, I'm happy. [Michael Aragon, Twitch's senior vice president of content, said, "Tyler is an iconic figure in the gaming community, and it's great to see the impact he's had on the industry and broader culture. Gaming and the people who love it are now recognized by a broad mainstream audience thanks to Tyler."

Blevin's new deal with Twitch comes a month after Michael "Shroud" Grzsesiek announced his return to the platform on August 11. This is a reversal of the 2019 platform swap, with Grzsesiek moving to Mixer a few months after Blevins' initial move.

Specifics about Blevins' plans to work with "underrepresented creators" were also not disclosed, but a Twitch representative said he would reveal more information as it became available.
