General
The Invincible is a "retro-futuristic atompunk" thriller inspired by 1960s Polish science fiction.

"Invincible" is a hard science fiction novel published by Polish author Stanislaw Lem in 1964, about the crew of a powerful deep spacecraft that lands on the planet Legis 3 and learns a harsh lesson about the meaning of life. 2021 will see the release of a new Polish studio called developed by Starward Industries, will also be a video game inspired by the novel. [Starward Industries CEO Marek Markaszewski said, "'Invincible Man' combines an engaging setting, an iconic story, and established non-linear gameplay to create a truly unforgettable experience. The studio believes in the power of interactive storytelling and wants to engage gamers of all levels to create their own unique path through the strange world of a distant, malevolent planet."

While the Washington Post praised Lem's "genius" earlier this year, I'm not sure "iconic" is really the right word, but it definitely sounds interesting. As a member of the crew of the Invincible, you embark on a search for a crew member who went missing on the Regis 3.

"Eventually, as you piece together the fate of the crew, you will discover that the Regis 3 hides a terrible secret," the Steam page says.

"And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you'll realize that maybe you're not alone, that some places, like this planet, are better left untouched. But it is too late to turn back."

As befits its mid-60s roots, The Invincible features a "retro-futuristic atompunk" visual style built around highly advanced analog technology. No trailer is available yet, but the following screens look nothing like the cover of a New Wave science fiction novel.

The development team also has experience in bringing unknown Polish authors to mainstream video game success: prior to Starward, the team assisted in the production of additions to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and served as project manager and producer for the Blood and Wine DLC. He was also the project manager and producer for the "Blood and Wine" DLC. Other members of this small studio have worked on games such as "Dying Light," "Dead Island," and "Cyberpunk 2077."

The Invincible is not expected to be released until sometime in 2021, but even though it is still quite a ways off, it looks very promising. At this point there is nothing to see other than the Steam page, but you can learn more about the developer at starwardindustries.com and enjoy the following "music preview" video (also pretty great).
