With Walmart Plus finally launched, U.S. retail giant Walmart is looking to further carve up the huge online shopping pie currently dominated by Amazon. Wal-Mart's new subscription service was supposed to launch in the spring, but belatedly began now.

Walmart Plus will offer unlimited free delivery, fuel discounts, and other perks online and in stores. There are also plenty of items related to PC builds as well as groceries, but unfortunately, you won't be putting an Nvidia RTX 3080 in your online basket along with a large order of Halloween candy.

Currently, the unlimited free shipping service is only available in the "Pickup & Delivery" section and does not cover Walmart's extensive component list, but you can still get gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, and other gaming peripherals. A 15-day free trial is also available.

And while Walmart Plus is not yet available everywhere, you can check the address at the bottom of the W+ homepage to see if Walmart Plus is available in your area.

Excluding the 15-day free trial, a 12-month subscription to Walmart Plus would cost $98 per year, or $12.95 per month, a little less than Amazon Prime's price, which is probably not too surprising; Jeffy B. is $119 for the full year and sticks to monthly renewals. If you want to stick with monthly renewals, he's asking $12.99.

W+'s free unlimited shipping is probably the most attractive part of the entire Walmart Plus package, at least when it comes to online shopping. To actually get free shipping, you need to make at least $35 in purchases,

Whether it can grow to a level comparable to Amazon Prime remains to be seen, but if it eventually unlocks Walmart's entire component catalog, it could offer a new way to get the popular Nvidia Ampere card.
