The "Crusader Kings 3 Anbennar" mod introduces fantasy elements inspired by "The Witcher" and D&D.

"Crusader Kings 3" has the rare distinction of being a very popular medieval-inspired game without incorporating a touch of fantasy into real-world history. As a medievalist in another life, I appreciate the developers' attempt to ground the game in reality (although I also like the fact that the game allows you to switch options between things like allowing female heirs or decriminalizing same-sex relationships, so you can adjust the realism of the day to exactly how gloomy you want it to be (I also like the fact that you can adjust the realism of the day to exactly how brooding you want it to be).

Whether you see this as the logical next step in adding more engaging and diverse features to the game, or as an inevitable concession to players who can't enjoy medieval Europe without Merlin wobbling around using magic to drive his sword into stone I think we can all agree that a fantasy mod was inevitable. And sure enough, with Anbennar's announcement, it is coming to fruition. [Fans of historical grand strategy games in general, and 2013's Europa Universalis IV in particular, may already know its name. That's because "Anbennar" has existed as the game's popular fantasy total conversion mod since 2018. And now, a large collaborative mod team, led by Jay10101, who first started working on the mod six years ago, is looking to bring Anbennar to Crusader Kings 3.

The creators of Anbennar cite Dragon Age and The Witcher as inspiration for the video game, while also referencing Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms setting, CK3's historical setting of medieval fantasy of the Golden Age, while staying true to the core strategic gameplay: "CK3 deals with the heyday of fantasy: the age of knights and magic, including the politics and dynastic intrigue that we all know and love."

The MFG's new MFG is a "new and exciting" version of CK3, which is a "new and exciting" version of CK3, which is a "new and exciting" version of CK3.

The mod features the introduction of playable classic fantasy races (including elves, dwarves, and halflings), magical aptitude traits that can be passed down through bloodlines, encouragement to build magically and politically advantageous dynasties, and a D&D-inspired magic system allows players to exercise their characters' magical abilities, among other things.

Anbennar for CK3 aims to continue the legacy of EU4 as "a massive collaborative world-building project that includes art, music, fanfiction, and even a D&D campaign. The community welcomes new collaborators, especially now that there is so much work to be done on their Subreddit and Discord servers.
