AMD Releases GPU Driver with More Black Screen Issues Fixed

AMD is preparing to launch its next-generation Radeon RX 6000 series, while its driver team works to exterminate several bugs affecting the company's current generation of cards. This includes some stubborn black screen issues.

Indeed, the latest Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition driver (version 20.9.1) is entirely focused on bug fixes, with no claims of performance improvements or optimization for specific games.

Here is the list of fixes:

The black screen bug has been plaguing Radeon users, and by extension AMD's driver team, for several months. Early on, many complaints surfaced on Reddit, and AMD asked users to submit bug reports directly to them.

"Posting issues on Reddit and other community forums, while helpful, does not necessarily mean that we will be able to find your post or get enough information from it.

AMD has also tweaked the bug reporting tool in the Radeon Software utility to make it easier to submit reports.

Outside of black screen crashes, if you experience game freezes or stutters, you can try turning off Windows 10 game mode. You can do this by going to Settings > Games, clicking on Game Mode in the left column, and toggling it to Off.

For the latest AMD drivers, they can be obtained from the Radeon Software utility or obtained from the AMD website and installed manually.
