Wingspan is one of the best board games of the past decade, and now it has a digital version. The new digital version of Wingspan, just released on Steam, is a rather impressive port between physical and digital. In Wingspan, players build clever combinations of birds, all of which have unique powers that make their bird collections more valuable and effective than their rivals. The digital version has everything you need to do just that: birds, birdsongs, forest sounds, and gorgeous illustrations of birds.
In addition, clicking on a bird while waiting your turn will play a lovely chirp. Relax and play.
Elizabeth Hargrave's Wingspan, released on the tabletop in 2019, has quickly become the all-time frontrunner in strategy card games. It is a so-called "engine-building" game. You can take actions of your choosing on any turn, and you play cards over time to enhance those actions and make your turn more efficient. Wingspan's straightforward and deep strategy is loved by a wide range of players. (If you've never heard of this game, don't blame me. I told your family to buy it for you last year.)
The digital version of Monster Couch looks pretty good from what I have seen. I previewed the game and found that it works quite well via Steam's Remote Play Together, although multiplayer is a bit limited at this time. The presentation, visuals, and music also translate beautifully; Wingspan rivals or surpasses some of the best board game adaptations, such as Lords of Waterdeep.
You can find Wingspan on Steam.
