Upcoming Bethesda Games on Xbox Game Pass from Day One

Bethesda's upcoming release will be added to Xbox Game Pass upon launch. In a blog post announcing Microsoft's latest acquisition, Xbox head Phil Spencer also confirmed a great coup for the Xbox subscription service.

According to Spencer, "With the addition of Bethesda, Microsoft will increase its creative studio team from 15 to 23 and add Bethesda's iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass. This includes Microsoft's intention to offer Bethesda's upcoming games on Xbox Game Pass on the same day they are released on Xbox or PC."

This has been Microsoft's approach for many of its first and third-party titles for some time now, with titles such as "Grounded" and Dontnod's "Tell Me Why" recently appearing on the subscription service on launch day. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that games as high-profile as Bethesda's are likely to follow suit.

The upcoming sci-fi RPG "Starfield" is the only Bethesda title Spencer actually named for Game Pass, but the implications of this new partnership are much deeper. For example, "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be offered on the service, as well as new titles in the "Doom," "Fallout," and "Dishonored" franchises.

Currently, there appear to be two exceptions to this agreement, with Xbox reportedly honoring PS5 exclusivity deals for Arkane's "Deathloop" and Tango Gameworks' "Ghostwire": Tokyo". However, once these contracts expire, it is very likely that these games will be offered on Microsoft's new console, and thus on Game Pass.
