Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is set to launch in November, and in what is now becoming a tradition, a beta test will take place about a month before launch.Activision today announced the dates for the beta test, and in what is becoming another Call of Duty tradition the PlayStation 4 players will be the first to participate.

The PS4-only period will begin on October 8 for those who pre-order the game, with the PS4 open beta running from October 10-12. The following weekend, October 15, the beta will open to players who pre-ordered the game on PC and Xbox, and of course PS4 players will continue to have access; from October 17 to 19, the beta will be open to all.

The modes that will be playable during the beta test have not been revealed, but according to a message of the day posted on Charlie Intel, there will be more modes available than during the PS4 alpha test that took place last weekend. And if you happened to play during that session and found the sniper rifle a bit unruly, Treyarch designer Tony Flame said on Twitter that it was buffed specifically for the alpha test and will be dialed down for the beta test.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is scheduled for full release on November 13.
