Bithell Games' next side project is a solitaire of spies, supervillains, and FMV cutscenes

"The Solitaire Conspiracy" is Bithell Games' newest title, which the studio calls "Bithell Short." In a series of tweets announcing the new project, Mike Bithell describes it as "an experimental game that explores ideas and genres that you can't play in 'Volume' or 'John Wick'. [Solitaire, always on the PC in case you've exhausted all other pastimes, has now morphed into a near-future spy thriller in which you try to rebuild an intelligence agency while fighting supervillains.

Past shorts include the excellent "Subsurface Circular," a short text adventure that follows a robot detective investigating the disappearance of several working-class robots. The story turns a conversation into a series of puzzles, which are solved using words and phrases collected.

The Solitaire Conspiracy is based on a solitaire variation of Streets and Alleys, but instead of placing ordinary playing cards, a crew of unique powers and cyber extensions appear, moving and stealing cards There is also a story campaign with FMV cutscenes, where you learn tricks and collect scattered spy crews.

Once you've finished the campaign, there are two more modes, where you can take on waves of unique decks in Countdown or go wild in the sandbox-like Skirmish mode with all crew members unlocked.

This one is also coming soon. If the combination of superspy and solitaire has you intrigued, it will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store on October 6.
