Game Awards will be streamed live from LA, London and Tokyo in December

The Game Awards return this year with a slightly different format: live streaming from three locations around the world: LA, London, and Tokyo will host the awards in empty studios and broadcast on 45 different platforms.

Geoff Keighley, who spent the summer trying to make it a human E3, told Variety that he would definitely do the Game Awards this year, even if he had to present at home. That proved to be an unfounded fear, and this year's event turned out to be a massive success.

Apparently he drew inspiration from "Death Stranding" and his ally, director Hideo Kojima. Game awards are often the place for trailers and announcements, but Keighley believes that, like Sam Bridges' journey across America, it can bring people back together on a global scale. It should be a pretty great trailer.

Interestingly, Keeley also said that he hopes to highlight the challenges facing the industry with this show. Clearly the coronavirus has had a major impact, but so have revelations about the inappropriate and abusive behavior of many members of the industry.

"How do we recognize that and reflect it in the right way in our program? As a program, we feel we have an obligation. 'A lot of people watch the program. It's about what the voice of the program is and how we can accurately represent the industry and bring good results." [Last year, the Game Awards had a peak of 7.5 million simultaneous viewers, making it a great platform to highlight issues in gaming culture and non-gaming topics.

The show will take place on December 10, so there is still some time before we begin to get a clue as to what will be covered. As usual, there will be announcements, world premieres, musical performances, and of course the awards themselves. Also new this year is the addition of a new award for accessibility innovation, which will recognize efforts to make the game more accessible to more people through new features and technology.
