RuneScape Comes to Steam

When RuneScape first appeared as a browser game in 2001, it was the first MMO many of us tried. It was the first time to be ganked by high-level players, to collect armor sets, and to have the armor you had just collected scammed away from you.

Much has changed in the meantime, with more raids, more dinosaurs, and enough changes that an Old School RuneScape was created for those who wanted to protect what was once RuneScape. And now RuneScape is coming to Steam.

As with any modern Steam game, there will be a host of achievements, badges, and trading cards, and you can link your existing RuneScape account to continue playing with your existing character.

According to Mod Warden, executive producer of RuneScape, upcoming changes include "improvements to the early game experience, onboarding, and readability," as well as UI optimization "of text, content, interaction, hitbox size from refinement to engine improvements and stability that support flexibility across the widest possible range of display sizes," according to the report. While some of this is in preparation for the launch of the mobile version of RuneScape next year, the update is intended to improve on both platforms.

The Steam version of RuneScape will launch on October 14, with Old School RuneScape to follow in 2021.
