Metal Gear Solid and its sequels return to the PC

With the future of the "Metal Gear Solid" series up in the air, let's go back to happier times.

All three had been available on PC for some time, but while they were re-released digitally on consoles a few years ago, PCs were not so lucky, depriving those without physical copies of the polygonal Snake.

It has been adjusted to run on modern PCs, but otherwise appears to be nearly identical to the original PC port. This version of MGS2 was also an expansion released a few years after the original PlayStation2 version, with additional missions and modes.

If a classic Metal Gear were to come out on PC, I think most people would gladly trade the first Metal Gear for Metal Gear Solid 3, which never made it to PC. I'm one of those annoying naysayers who likes the second one best, but MGS3 is a surprisingly clever and singular stealth epic that should be available everywhere.

Along with the Metal Gear trio, Konami is also putting out the Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra on GOG, which bundles five games already available digitally on PC. This collection includes Castlevania, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest, Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, Contra, and Super C
