Teslagrad 2" offers platforming in a new realm of magnetism and electricity

"Teslagrad" is a side-scrolling puzzle platformer about a young man who is not Nikola Tesla and his adventures in "steampunk-esque old Europe." With ancient intrigue, tyrannical kings, and strange Teslamancer technology, it has an overall Metacritic rating of 77 and an overall Steam user rating of "very favorable," which is really good by all reports.

Seven years after the original release, developer Rain Games today made the shocking announcement that Teslagrad 2 is in development. The game will be set in Wyrmheim, a new region "strongly based" on Rain Games' native Norway, and will feature Viking carvings, Norse runes, and, as the key art suggests, electromooses.

"Like its predecessor, Teslagrad 2 will be an exploration-based Metroidvania game with magnetic physics and the visual style that won players over in the original," the studio said. Teslagrad brought a fresh experience to the game with its magnetic physics-based mechanics." Now, Rain Games intends to take this experience to another level with the sequel, breathing new life into the game with additional elements that set it apart from the original."

It is unclear when Teslagrad 2 will be released, but it will likely be a while: Rain Games is also currently working on a new game called Mesmer, set in the same world as Teslagrad but "very different from it" and called "Girl Genius -. The Kickstarter campaign for "Adventures In Castle Heterodyne" is in its final week.
