The new powerful Warzone kill streak shows all the circles in the match.

Battle royale games are about making hundreds of minute decisions under gradually escalating tension. That's a big reason why battle royale games continue to intoxicate us: we have no idea where to travel next, or whether the risk to ourselves and our teammates is worth exploring new areas in search of fresh loot. The new kill streak, Warzone Foresight, changes all that, and its drop rate is already, well, down.

Introduced as part of yesterday's Warzone Season 6 launch, Foresight is a killstreak that, when picked up, allows you to see all upcoming circles in that match. The endgame circles begin to move erratically, so it can be quite frustrating to play against an enemy who can see everything at the end of the game. It still takes skill to survive and accumulate quality gear, but even so, given the vastness of Verdansk, there is a tremendous tactical advantage.

The above tweet shows Call of Duty leaker Modern Warzone picking up this perk in a bunker. It appears to be automatically triggered when picked up without taking up a killstreak slot; how to find Foresight is not yet certain, but it is most likely found in various Warzone bunkers hidden throughout the map: in Modern Warzone, the new subterranean iron that appeared yesterday The company claims that it could also be found by clearing an Easter egg related to the system. This legendary perk is not something that can be found in the usual ground loot.

In addition to perhaps violating one of the basic tenets of battle royale (the response to charlieINTEL's tweet indicates players' displeasure), Infinity Ward apparently believes that Foresight appears too frequently. In a playlist update released early this morning, along with a change to the minigun drop rate and a fix for players dying from gas during the new Metro ride, Infinity Ward stated that they are "reducing the drop rate for Foresight killstreaks." He did not elaborate on the extent of the reduction, but it will slightly reduce the frequency with which they can be found while plunging into a bunker.

The update was not the easiest for Infinity Ward, but at least there is a new underground train network and bats to befriend; in perhaps the last season before the release date of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, the in-game store went dark and crashes were frequent. At least there were no shotguns that could one-hit anyone from 15 meters away like last time.

It's not just Foresight's kill streaks that Infinity Ward has tapped into the genre; in Gulag, a successful Gunfight-style one-on-one gives you a chance to get back into a match even after death, and the innovative cache and Warzone's loadout system, but it was arguably the most controversial. Not only does it make a player who has carefully strategized until the end of the game fall to a Foresight-wielding camper, but it also takes away the mystery and thrill of the match.
