Nvidia Hot Fix GPU Driver Resolves Black Screen G-Sync Issues and Fortnite Crashes

Attention GeForce GPU owners, Nvidia has released an incremental driver update to address a specific set of problems some people are experiencing. Known as a hot-fix driver, this update is similar to Microsoft releasing out-of-band Windows updates to fix problems before the next big update.

In this case, Nvidia's optional 456.71 hotfix driver builds on the recently released 456.55 driver, specifically for Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone with Reflex system delay reduction technology If you are using a GeForce GPU and do not already have that driver, you can update it through GeForce Experience or install it manually by visiting Nvidia's driver download page.

As for the hotfixes, they address three issues: the first is a bug that causes some users to see a black screen when launching a game in full-screen mode with G-Sync enabled on an adaptive sync monitor; Nvidia is working on a bug that causes G-Sync-enabled monitors and Nvidia has not specified whether both G-Sync-enabled and non-G-Sync-enabled monitors are affected, but I would venture to guess that it applies to each.

Second, this hotfix includes a fix for a bug that caused Fornite to crash when using RTX Shadows and Reflections in-game.

Finally, by applying this hotfix, Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition will resolve an issue in which enabling GPU scheduling with hardware acceleration in Windows caused the frame rate for some users to This resolves an issue that caused frame rate drops for some users when hardware accelerated GPU scheduling is enabled on Windows. This setting can also be toggled off.

If you are not experiencing any of these issues, please be patient as they will be included in the next scheduled driver update. If not, please visit the hotfix page to download them (they will not appear in GeForce Experience).
