Disc Room opens this month

In any other situation, it would be outrageous to jump headfirst into a knife-flying pit. But that's exactly what Devolver's Sawgillicore roguelike is doing, sharpening its blades for release later this month.

Don't get cut. That's it. Unfortunately, as a tiny astronaut trapped in a giant sharp disk filled with thousands of tiny sharp disks, it's easier said than done.

The creators of Disc Room, a collaboration between Terry Welleman, Adam "Doseone" Drucker, JW Nyman, and Kitty Kalis, boast an impressive track record with games like High Hell, Minute, and Nuclear Throne. Their latest feels like a particularly cruel joke against the latter, which prematurely ended the throne of many Wasteland Kings with the infamous Disc Gun.

But Discroom's buzz saw chambers are not merely cruel, they are also puzzling. Each offers its own unique challenge: survive for X amount of time, turn off the floor of colored lights, or be deliberately cut open by every blade on the screen. Despite its brutality, James found it "a surprisingly calm and contemplative experience," as he commented earlier this year.

If you can't wait until October 22 to be cut open by a spinning blade, a free demo of Disc Room is currently available on Steam.
