General
Amazon extends return deadline for most products purchased this fall to January 31, 2021.

If you're thinking about buying PC components or an entire PC right now because of hot new hardware coming from Nvidia and AMD this fall, Amazon has a new perk for you. This is not just for electronics. Whatever you buy on Amazon, if it doesn't work out, there will probably be an unusually generous return window for that item.

Amazon's support page for returns states, "For the 2020 holiday season, most items shipped between October 1 and December 31 can be returned until January 31, 2021." That means you (or the person you're trying to gift something to) have plenty of time to test any item you might buy from Amazon before deciding whether to keep it. You can check to see if it is covered by the extended return policy by looking under the buy button on the product page.

This is especially good news considering the hardware and software issues affecting Nvidia's latest graphics cards. If you actually order an RTX 2080 card and it is broken or partially working, you can simply print out the label Amazon gives you and drop it off at your local UPS store.

This is much better than Newegg's return process, which typically charges a 15-30% restocking fee and only accepts most returns for 30 days after purchase.

Amazon may charge a small restocking or shipping fee for some items, such as monitors, cases, and other large items, but that information should be displayed during the return process. Generally speaking, Amazon is quite good when it comes to returns.
