Nvidia CEO Says Demand for RTX 3000 Will "Outpace Supply" Through Year-End

Don't expect the RTX 3080 or the upcoming RTX 3070 to be readily available for purchase anytime soon. I believe that demand will outstrip supply throughout the year," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said today during a call with analysts and journalists.

Last week, Nvidia delayed the RTX 3070's launch by two weeks, to October 29. But that doesn't seem to be enough to make up for the demand for more affordable RTX cards. Jensen doesn't seem to think so either.

"Remember, we are also entering a double whammy: the double whammy is the holiday season," he said on the conference call, as reported by Tom's Hardware.

"Even before the holiday season, we're doing incredibly well, and then you add the Ampere factor, and then you add the Ampere holiday factor, and we're in for a really, really big fourth quarter season."

Juan insists that this is not a supply issue for Nvidia, but rather a "demand issue." [and] we were really expecting a lot." [but it's hard not to be skeptical of Nvidia's claim that its supply lines are running at full capacity this year, when COVID has had such a huge impact on manufacturing and shipping. But bots and resellers certainly aren't helping the situation, and hopefully by the time the RTX 3070 launches, the changes to the Nvidia store and its manual monitoring will help prevent bots from placing orders and making honest people go after cards for more than 5 seconds.
