Samsung's 4K triple laser projector is fantastic!

If you've never considered buying a laser projector to replace your big-screen TV, Samsung's new "The Premiere" may change your mind. and you have the necessary funds. Samsung's new laser projector can project images up to 130 inches on a wall or screen.

Since the Premiere is an ultra-short-throw projector, you don't need a particularly long living room to take advantage of its capabilities. According to Samsung, it only needs to be 11.3 cm (about 4.44 inches) away from the wall. And with models LSP7T and LSP9T, it is possible to project a screen from 100" to 120" or 130", respectively.

"The days of installing complex, unaesthetic components in a space are coming to an end," Samsung says.

Samsung has opted for a fairly attractive minimalist design, with rounded edges and "aesthetically pleasing fabric finishes." It looks gorgeous from the renderings we've seen, and the relatively compact design is a boon.

The LSP7T and LSP9T utilize a triple laser system to project 4K images, with contrast ranges up to 2,800 ANSI lumens brightness. Samsung suggests that they are suitable for viewing content both during the day and at night, so you don't necessarily need to stick this in a dark basement.

Another boast from Samsung is that the Premier is the first ever HDR10+ certified projector. That's because projectors that support the Dolby Vision HDR format do exist.

As for image quality, Samsung says it offers a wide color gamut that covers 147 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and 106 percent of BT.2020. On the audio side, speakers and woofers are built into the projector to provide 4.2 channel sound. Smart features and compatibility with "multiple audio services" complete the package.

What about games?

"Premiere also offers gamers a great experience, providing all the benefits of image and sound along with low input lag, allowing gamers to immerse themselves in high-quality game play," says Samsung.

Intriguing. One thing to note is the price: $3,500 for the LSP7T and $6,500 for the LSP9T. To put this price into perspective, a 77-inch OLED TV typically costs $3,700 to $4,700, while an 86-inch LCD TV is as low as $1,900.
