AMD Announces Ryzen 5000 CPU for November 5 Release

AMD today announced the Ryzen 9 5950X, Ryzen 9 5900X, Ryzen 7 5800X, and Ryzen 5 5600X, the new Ryzen 5000 series processors based on the Zen 3 architecture, which on the surface appear similar to the Ryzen 3000 series. While on the surface the new Ryzen 5000 series processors with Zen 3 architecture may look similar to the Ryzen 3000 series, they actually hide a streamlined architecture that AMD is confident will allow it to compete with Intel in the gaming arena.

AMD promised a lot to gamers at this event, and it looks like it will deliver. Dr. Lisa Su today unveiled an all-new flagship chip for gaming rigs, the Ryzen 9 5950X. Not only does this chip break Cinebench records, but it also promises to give gaming an edge with its improved IPC (instructions per clock).

This is thanks to the Zen 3 architecture. It offers a higher maximum boost clock, improved IPC, a new 8-core CCX layout, and improved cache topology. AMD says this results in an average performance increase of 26% for 1080p games.
