AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 28% faster than Zen 2 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

AMD's live stream was highly anticipated and it did not disappoint. Today AMD announced that the new Zen 3 CPU, the Ryzen 9 5900X, broke the Cinebench R20 single-threaded execution record with an unprecedented high score of 631, while the Intel Core i9 10900k only managed a score of 544.

The 12-core, 24-thread chip has a boost frequency of up to 4.8 GHz and is expected to be 26% faster than its predecessor in terms of average gaming performance. League of Legends is 50% better, CS:GO is 46% better, and 1080p performance is ridiculously improved.

The frame rate average for Shadow of the Tomb Raider (high quality preset) is 181 over the 141 that AMD's Zen 2 Ryzen 9 3900X could handle. This is a 28% performance improvement.

This is another amazing leap for AMD, even though there appears to be little leap in manufacturing nodes. Of course, since these are AMD's own numbers, we are eager to verify them ourselves and see the results as soon as possible.
