Nvidia Stops Selling RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition in Web Store

Nvidia announced that it will sell the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition through Best Buy as it works to improve its web store. After the tumultuous launch of both graphics cards, which saw its own store hit by a wave of bot Promising to update its online store to offer better graphics cards to builders, the company now appears to have decided to stop selling the RTX 30 series in its own store and offer them elsewhere.

The availability of Founders Edition cards was announced on the GeForce forums. According to that post, Nvidia is "working on improving the experience" on its web store in line with user feedback, and in the meantime Founders Edition cards will be available at Best Buy in the US.

In Europe, however, no alternative to Nvidia's store has been identified." In Europe, we continue to explore fulfillment options for the Founders Edition," the forum post states. We have asked Nvidia to explain whether this means that Founders Edition sales are temporarily on hold across Europe.

Nvidia's U.S. and U.K. webstores are currently redirecting only to external retailers' websites.

Here is the full text of the forum post:

"We appreciate your feedback about the NVIDIA online store and are working to improve the experience. In the meantime, we will be selling the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 Founders Edition through other partners. In the U.S., you can find the Founders Edition on the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 at Best Buy. In Europe, the company continues to explore fulfillment options for the Founders Edition.

"Founders Edition units are limited and more will become available in the coming weeks as the supply of boards from our global board partners increases.

It is unclear when this store will reopen, but that will depend on availability.

RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards continue to be in short supply worldwide, and while Nvidia and its partners are working to get more cards available as soon as possible, things do not look rosy for potential PC builders. Even Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang expects the low inventory to continue through 2021.
