Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" Next Update Will Make the Game Smaller

In a bit of news that made PC storage systems around the world breathe a sigh of relief, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will finally allow a mode-specific uninstall option for the PC version of Modern Warfare. Tomorrow's patch 1.28 will include fixes for.

1.28, which will be released at midnight, will finally cut down on absolute disk space eating monsters like Modern Warfare. You will be able to install only the modes of the game you actually use, Paul Haile, production director of Modern Warfare, announced via Twitter.

Earlier this month, the size of the game had crept to the point where it would no longer fit on a 250GB SSD. This was because the game was already huge at launch, 175 GB, but was apparently about to get even bigger. (It was inevitable that Modern Warfare, which encompasses a full campaign, co-op mode, and a game-as-a-service battle royale, would be huge. ) This was planned for consoles, where players could install one mode at a time for a while, a feature PC players lost when Call of Duty moved from Steam to the Battlenet client.

The rest of the 1.28 update is still unknown, but it is already the best patch yet for PC players.

Modern Warfare recently released its sixth season, adding two new operators, friendly bats, subway rides, and a sniper rifle that our own Morgan Park called "an overly powerful death laser."
