Ruffian Games, developer of "Crackdown 2," is now part of Rockstar.

Rockstar Games has acquired a new studio and renamed it "Rockstar Dundee". Originally Ruffian Games, best known for "Crackdown 2," the studio already has a history with "GTA."

The studio was founded in 2008 and includes former members of Realtime Worlds, the developer of "Crackdown"; Realtime Worlds was started by the co-founders of DMA Design, which developed GTA and became Rockstar North. Rockstar North. In addition to this indirect connection to the series, Ruffian is working with Rockstar starting in 2019, according to Twitter's call for new engineers.

The Companies House listing (Cheers, TheGamer) lists Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, as a "significant controlling interest" on October 1 and a company name change on October 5, when in fact, as of September 28, Rockstar ...Dundee was added to Rockstar's careers page, which was discovered and shared on Twitter. It has since been removed.

After "Crackdown 2," Ruffian got off to a few false starts, such as the co-op tactical action "Hollowpoint," which was to be published by Paradox Interactive. The company has also provided additional work for Xbox Game Studios games such as "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" and "Crackdown 3."

Rockstar's future plans have not yet been announced, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Aside from a follow-up GTA 5, which will be released on the Series X, there is no word on what Rockstar Dundee is currently working on.
