General
The first full patch for Baldur's Gate 3 has been modified and released.

Update: This patch was rolled back shortly after launch yesterday due to a bug that caused errors in save games. This issue has now been resolved and the update is active again.

Original story here:

Larian has already made three small updates to Baldur's Gate 3 since its release on Steam Early Access a week ago. Larian also explained how the most popular options in the character editor were combined to create the most generic guy possible. Now it was time for the first real patch to be released. The patch includes quite a few bug fixes and gameplay improvements, as well as some interesting insights into other data, including the ominous-sounding "Map of Death."

"All feedback, whether positive or negative, is very useful and important to us, and we really appreciate everyone who organizes their thoughts and shares them with us on Steam, in the forums, or on our feedback form. That's what Early Access is all about for us. Please keep the feedback coming. 'Under the game hood, we're getting our first look at player decisions and data. Before we launch a game, we make a lot of assumptions about what people will do and why they will do it. Once we launch, we can see if we got it right."

To illustrate the point, the update includes a heat map of player deaths.

(You can find the digital remains of my party in the bright yellow area just below the chapel forest. Several times)

Interesting names aside, the studio says that the data can be combined with player feedback and bug reports to determine why people die in certain areas and, more importantly, whether it is normal for it to happen. For example, many people appear to be dead when they first meet Gail, which Larian says is "odd." There are also a surprising number of deaths at the camp, as I mentioned in my recent recap of whether or not you should wait to buy "Baldur's Gate 3". (We won't spoil it, but let's just say we're not surprised.)

Other interesting data:

Larian said he will continue to share "data and insights" during the Early Access period, and "the results will make the game better," and players will be able to play horseplay however they want. He encouraged them to continue to do so. He also said that public multiplayer lobbies will be launched soon, and Discord integration is planned. Patch notes for today's major update are as follows.
