Budgeting is the ultimate pain when it comes to buying a new PC, but while timing is everything, there are still deals to be had on Prime Day. Right now, for example, you can get a normally $900 configuration with a 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and GeForce GTX 1660 GPU for only $549.99. Compared to building your own, the CPU and GPU alone costs just over $400.

Admittedly, this is not an ornate gaming PC, but it is reasonably priced for the hardware. Other components include 8GB of DDR4-3000 memory, a 512GB solid state drive, a 500W power supply, and Windows 10 Home. Also included is a keyboard and mouse (probably pretty basic, but if nothing else, you can leave it as a backup).

As for RAM, I am not too disheartened by the price drops over the past year. You can get an 8GB module for around $30 these days; a 16GB DDR4-3200 kit sells for around $50.

Also, some wire management may be needed. No pictures of the internals are available, but several comments note that the wiring is messy. Overall, however, it is worth considering, even at the discounted price.
