With less than a month until the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, the latest installment of "This Week at Bungie" contains two major pieces of news: personal and professional. First, the personal news: Bungie has announced that the new raid in Beyond Light, and the traditional "Race to World First," will begin on November 21 at 10:00 am PT (1:00 pm CST). This gives players more than a month to prepare, but the studio also warned that the process for determining the winner will be slightly different this time around.

"After the fanfare and hustle and bustle immediately after the checkered flag is waved, our data scientists will spend extra time examining the finishing team's run. The official World First announcement will be made a little later than usual. Disqualification can happen as per the official rules. Even if you hear rumors that another team has won, finish strong.'

This increased scrutiny is the result of widespread concern about cheating, which is bad enough in PvP, but as Phil pointed out in a recent article on the most outrageous cheaters in PC gaming, raid glory has a powerful allure, and at least one player is already a goal made (and shared) specific plans to cheat all the way to the line. Given all this, it makes sense that Bungie would want to be more certain that the player who is crowned World First, and who will be rewarded with a unique title belt as a reward, is playing clean.

The next raid will take place in Deep Stone Crypt, which is said to be the birthplace of Destiny's Exo race. This location is on Europa, a moon of Jupiter, and is one of two new destinations being added by Beyond Light (the other being the Old Russian Cosmodrome). In personal news, David "Deej" Dague, who joined Bungie in November 2011 and served as Community Manager for many years, is leaving the company

"I'm very happy to announce that I will be leaving Bungie in November 2011.

"My last day at Bungie will be November 6, 2020, thus ending nine full years of serving the players. It has truly been an honor. I will never forget having the opportunity to see this community come together and create a movement of its own." The next destination on my professional journey is on another road, but it will always be fun to follow in the footsteps we have walked together."

"I am proud to leave Bungy even more of a fan than when I arrived nine years ago. Whoever warned you not to meet your heroes probably never had the opportunity to work in a place like this. Dague said he will continue to be present in an official capacity until the launch of Beyond Light, "after which I will return to my original role as a passionate member of this community."
