Stardew Valley's Next Major Update Will Feature Split-Screen Cooperative Play

"Stardew Valley" creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone announced on his Twitter page that the version 1.5 update will include split-screen local co-op play for up to four players on PC. Barone's tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of split-screen play, which includes a myriad of interesting new elements that will be coming to Stardew soon. The release date for the 1.5 update for Stardew Valley is not yet set, but it will likely be released towards the end of the year. A major 2019 update, 1.4, was released near the end of November.

Screenshots show no small number of new oddities for the farm and village life game. The farm is on sand that looks like a desert or beach. There is also a cool slime with sunglasses. There are at least two new artisan machines. There's a telephone stand - maybe I can finally call people and talk to them instead of having to search for them every day." There's also a new style chest in front of the house, but I'm sure it does something special. Also, I can now put torches up on the fence posts. I see a statue of Solar Essence on the right.

Honestly, there are a lot of them.

Since the new content update was announced earlier this year, there have been several teasers as to what it would entail. Willie's Fishing Shop has a little something new in it. Thanks to a fan vote, it looks like bananas will be making an appearance as well.

Earlier this year, Baron said he wouldn't be surprised to see a Stardew Valley 2 in the future, but he is currently working on other projects. Perhaps he will not work on it until people find the last few secrets that have not been discovered in Stardew Valley.
