AMD's Latest GPU Drivers Just in Time for Doom Eternal: Ancient Gods

Part 1 of Doom Eternal's first DLC, the two-part "The Ancient Gods" campaign, arrived today. AMD also announced a graphics drive update that optimizes Radeon hardware for this expansion and several other games.

In addition to The Ancient Gods, AMD's new Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.10.1 driver (try saying that just twice fast) will be available for Watch Dogs: Legion (due out October 29), the recently delayed (again) Early Access Dirt 5 (due November 6), and optimized for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands pre-expansion patch.

As is often the case, AMD has made a handful of bug fixes in its latest driver release. They include:

The absence of the black screen issue is taken as somewhat of a positive sign, assuming it has been mostly wiped out at this point (fingers crossed, anyway). However, some games and configurations with Enhanced Sync enabled may experience the black screen bug; AMD says that if this occurs, disabling Enhanced Sync is a temporary workaround until an appropriate fix is provided!

.

This may be the last GPU driver release before AMD announces the Radeon RX 6000 series next week. The presentation is scheduled for October 28, at which time the clock speeds, other specifications, and AMD's RDNA 2 graphics architecture in general will finally be officially revealed.

In the meantime, the 20.10.1 driver release can be downloaded from the Radeon Software utility or obtained and installed manually from AMD's driver download page.
