Today is Thursday, which means it's time to knock on Tim Sweeney's door and demand free candy. This candy is also metaphorical.

Thematically appropriate, given that it is late October and Halloween is upon us. First up is Double Fine's game, "The Costume Quest 2," in which you dress up and transform yourself into a "Hallow Warrior," wielding collectible candy cards and battling "a paranoid dentist who argues against candy [who] has jumped across the space-time continuum, leading to a grim future where Halloween has been outlawed," in Double Fine's " Costume Quest 2". It looks like Double Fine's game.

The second game offers a more traditional horror experience: Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person psycho-horror game about a Hollywood actor who takes on the lead role in a project he should have skipped. It has its moments, but it doesn't stick the landing: we said in our 2019 review that "the initial chilling atmosphere has been replaced by an attempt at psychoanalytic storytelling that we're not quite sure how to handle."
