Locomotive roguelike "Monster Train" supports mods.

New vehicles have been added to the deck-building roguelike Monster Train, with an update to Herzal's Workshop last night bringing balance changes, a cursed new paint job, and more frequent appearances of something called Bone Dog.

Mod support comes after a short, albeit lengthy, beta that saw the Steam Workshop hub flooded with new units, useful features, and Seinfeld's baseline.

By far the standout of this initial lineup is an entirely new faction: the Arcadian Clan, created by modder Chronometric, adds an entirely new set of over 40 new cards and 11 new artifacts, and a custom-made (now placeholder) unit art and boasts a unique mechanism for an elevated floor. Although currently incomplete, the creators have a handy tracker on the Workshop page to show how far along the collection is.

Other mods range from really useful features like the Resume Combat button and a wild modifier that doubles the number of units to inexplicable jokes that change the name of all cards to "Chungus" or just one card to "Frank". There's also "The Mod About Nothing," which adds a Xinfeldt-style bass slap and laugh track to your fight, if you so desire. [Mod support isn't the only thing added in this week's update. Spooky seasonal decorations have also been added to the Monster Train, and the elusive bone dog has been given its own event; Herzal's Workshop also includes some small balance tweaks, and the full patch notes can be found in the update's Steam Announcement post at Available for review.
