Oculus confirms that logging into multiple VR headsets with one Facebook account is not prohibited.

Using more than one Oculus headset on a single Facebook account is not a violation of Facebook's terms of service, the social media company clarified. After a customer service representative told one user that his account would likely be suspended if he used more than one headset, Facebook jumped in to say that this was not the case and that it was working to improve its login process for multiple users.

"Using the same Facebook account on two or more Oculus headsets at the same time will not 'ban' your account; registering the same account on two or more headsets is not against Facebook's Terms of Service," Oculus s official Twitter account replied to the aforementioned thread (via UploadVR).

The reason for the confusion apparently stems from an effort to "respond quickly to customer questions," even if the answers to those questions are in fact incorrect.

It is clear that customer support has some issues to address, especially since the introduction of mandatory Facebook login, but Oculus still aims to make the login process easier with guest Facebook accounts in the near future. They plan to introduce the ability for multiple users to log in to the same device using their own Facebook account."

"The idea is to allow people to easily share headsets and target apps with friends and family while keeping their information separate. We will be sharing more about this in the near future."

The introduction of a mandatory Facebook login is a sore spot for Oculus Quest 2. Despite the headset gaining popularity and hardware accolades, some users are distancing themselves due to the FB account access required to use the headset. As far as I can tell, there is little functionality for users to gain through the FB account link.

Deleting the FB account also means the Oculus account is lost, meaning all apps and games are erased upon deactivation. Some users have also reported that they are unable to use their Quest headset because they cannot restore their Facebook account; Oculus has stated that the number of cases is low and that they are working to fix the issue.

If you tend to deactivate your Facebook account, or have already done so, the Oculus Quest 2 is not for you. But there are plenty of alternatives, just check out our recommended guide to the best VR headsets.
