In a guest appearance on the "This Week in Marvel" podcast, Epic Games Worldwide Creative Director Donald Mustard revealed that the game's Marvel crossover elements will continue for the foreseeable future.

The world of "Fortnite," currently in its 14th season (the fourth season of the second chapter, to be exact), is embroiled in the "Nexus Wars," events themed around characters and plots from various Marvel universes, including comics, movies, and television shows. Theme seasons, overarching stories, and guest appearances by characters from other franchises such as "Star Wars," "John Wick," and "Stranger Things" are nothing new for the battle royale giant, but a complete story crossover in "Fortnite" is This is the first time it has happened.

Interviewed on the podcast, Mustard revealed that this crossover season is unlikely to be the game's last: "I called this season 'Nexus War' because it's just the beginning of a lot of things we've been planning for years to integrate with Marvel We're not going to be able to do it, because it's not going to happen," he said.

Mustard describes himself as having a "lifelong passion for Marvel. Yet Marvel is not the only brand that has formed a partnership with "Fortnite" over the past few years. Some have predicted that the game will become a metaverse ("Ready Player One"-style, an online space where many fictional worlds collide). Of course, whether this idea is positioned as utopian or dystopian will vary from person to person.

From Mustard's comments, it is clear that he is plotting several years of "Fortnite" seasons, but it is not clear how heavily characters from the Marvel world will appear in all of those stories. This Week in Marvel" is clearly Marvel-oriented podcast, so it is not surprising that the interview focuses on crossovers, but it also contains some interesting material on the broader philosophy of "Fortnite" storytelling.
