Ten-Year-Old Halloween Event Returns to Warhammer Online

In 2009 and 2010, the nostalgic MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning hosted a Halloween event called Daemon Moon Rising. Appropriately for the Halloween theme, the event was a masquerade event in which players donned daemon masks that gave them various powers. Also, as is typical of Warhammer, there was a skull soccer game. Daemon cradles are heads that are thrown from player to player and carried to the goal, where they must be protected from the opposing team to score points.

The Return of Reckoning team, which revived Warhammer Online after it closed in 2013, plans to bring back Daemon Moon Rising for the first time this year. While the original event was held in the Praag Zone, their version of Daemonball will be held in its own silo and will be a "closed scenario where players can play the event without encountering Zerg or Warband."

The event's boss, a daemon called Goreslake, will also be present. Unlike the scenario, he will appear in a realm versus realm zone called Chaos Waste." In other words, the team said, "players will have to meet the rival factions there before fighting the boss." Players will receive a unique time-limited portal that will take them directly to their respective Chaos Wastes camps."

Demon Moon Rising used to hand out rewards like Halloween candy, and its return will be no different, with additional masks that can be worn as rewards and drops. It will begin on October 30. There are also events planned for Christmas and New Year's, and Twitch Drops will be back as well.

Warhammer Online came in at #9 in Warhammer Fantasy's ranking of all games.
