Today, Dr. Lisa Su took the stage during AMD's Radeon live stream to announce three new RX 6000 series graphics cards: the RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT are certainly intriguing, but the $579 RX 6800, the least expensive of the three, is likely to be the graphics card of most interest to aspiring customers. RX 6800, the least expensive of the three at $579, is likely to be the graphics card that attracts the most interest from aspiring customers.

The card's specs can be seen in the table below to see how it compares to the likes of RDNA 2.

AMD has not revealed exactly what this card will be for users who are waiting for Nvidia's RTX 30 series graphics card, the RTX 3070. AMD has said that the RX 6800 will be able to outperform the RTX 2080 Ti in a handful of games ( Incidentally, they have provided a mountain of gaming benchmarks that show it dominating in a handful of games (with Smart Access Memory turned on), which should put it roughly in line with the RTX 3070.

AMD can at least claim victory in VRAM capacity. Both cards feature GDDR6 memory, but the RTX 3070 has 8GB while the RX 6800 has 16GB; the RX 6800 costs $579 while the RTX 3070 costs $499. [The RX 6800 will be available starting November 18 along with the RX 6800 XT; the RX 6900 XT will follow on December 8.
