Chris Lee, project director for "Halo Infinite," is no longer working on the film. Lee told Bloomberg that he is "stepping away from 'Infinite'" and is currently exploring other opportunities.
"I believe in the team and I'm confident they will deliver a great game.
Interestingly, although Lee is no longer with "Halo Infinite," he is still with 343 Industries, where he has been the head of a partner studio since 2016. Chris Lee remains a Microsoft employee, and while he is now stepping away from "Halo Infinite," we appreciate everything he has done for the project," a Microsoft representative told the site.
Lee's departure is the latest of several recent surprises in the development of Halo Infinite. Former creative director Tim Longo left the studio in August 2019, and executive producer Mary Olson also moved into the role of lead producer for the "Halo Infinite" campaign team. Microsoft actually cited Lee as a stabilizing influence after Longo's departure, saying in a statement that "the overall creative vision and production of the game continues to be led by Chris Lee, the studio head of Halo Infinite."
Olson himself left 343 a few months later, in October 2019, but the studio reassured fans that they need not worry." There are no creative dilemmas inside the studio and the writing is not on the wall," community manager John Junyszek said in a Reddit post. Regardless of relevance, "Halo Infinite" had an underwhelming presentation at the Xbox Showcase in July and was pushed back to 2021 the following month. A full release date has not yet been set.
We have contacted Microsoft for more information on Lee's departure and will update this article if we hear back.
