Today at the long-awaited launch of the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, aka Big Navi, Lisa Su and co-developers announced that this new enthusiast-class GPU will, in some cases, outperform the GeForce RTX 30 series

The first 6000 GPUs are now available.

At the time of the initial 6000 series announcement, AMD promised 4K gaming at 60fps or better, and leaked information suggested that the new RX 6800 XT card could outperform the Nvidia RTX 3080.

Benchmarks show that the new RX 6800 XT can go toe-to-toe with the Nvidia RTX 3080 in many top games with all settings maxed out; AMD claims that it can beat the Nvidia RTX 3080 in games like "Forza Horizon 4" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" games, it claims to be able to deliver more frames per second than rival Nvidia cards.

At 1440p, it's "Wolfenstein: Young Blood" and "Doom Eternal.

AMD also claims that the RX 6800 averages 18% better 4K performance than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The RX6800 gets a helping hand for that with AMD's new Smart Access Memory Radeon/Ryzen feature, which is quite a boast for AMD considering that the RTX 2080 Ti goes for $1,200 and the RX6800 sells for just $579. is quite proud for AMD.

But consider that Nvidia's new RTX 3070 card offers similar performance to the RX 6800 and will sell for just $499.

At first glance, AMD's RX 6900 XT card looks quite strong against Nvidia's RTX 3090. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that these numbers are only posted when AMD's new "Rage Mode" easy overclocking feature is enabled. To get a better idea of its potential, you will have to test it yourself.

Our conclusion at this point is that the RX 6000 series should be able to deliver a competitive gaming experience at 1440p or 4K.

The RX 6800 will be available starting November 18 for $579, the RX 6800 XT for $649, and the RX 6900 XT for $999 on December 8.
