'Cyberpunk 2077' is causing other games to lag behind.

Cyberpunk 2077's delay to December 10 isn't just affecting fans eager to play CD Projekt Red's open-world RPG; the three-week delay is spreading to other games as well.

Path of Exile's 3.13 end-game expansion is scheduled to be released on December 11, and just last week, developer Grinding Gear Games said that the expansion will reach that date "in a very stable and polished state."

However, with Cyberpunk 2077's release date changed to December 10 (from November 19), Grinding Gear Games is about to go by the wayside; Path of Exile's 3.13 expansion has been delayed from December 11 until around January 2021.

"We don't want to put players in a situation where they have to choose between the two games, so we have decided to delay the release of Path of Exile 3.13 until January," Chris Wilson, CEO of Grinding Gear Games, PoE forum.

"We expect to have 3.13 completed by early to mid-December. The scope of this extension will remain unchanged." During the one month delay before release we will begin work on the 3.14 extension."

This is a bit of an odd move, as there are many "PoE" players who would love to jump into "Cyberpunk 2077" the moment it is released, so by delaying the "PoE" expansion by a month, they don't have to take the time, not feel like they missed out on playing either game.

But for avid Exile fans who have been waiting for something new, even if the expansion is ready, it feels like a bit of a punishment to have to wait, especially if you have no plans to play Cyberpunk 2077. Reactions to the forum postings have been, as expected, mixed, with some fans thanking Wilson and others seeming quite unhappy with the whole thing.

On the plus side, Path of Exile players will still get something in December." Wilson writes, "We will be hosting at least one multi-week event (Flashback, for example) so that people can still play interesting Path of Exile stuff during the Christmas and New Year's vacations.
