Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine postponed, still expected in 2021.

The release of Far Cry 6, a journey to the fictional country of Yala, has been postponed. Ubisoft announced in its Q2 earnings report today that the game will be delayed to 2021-22 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The "Rainbow Six" spin-off "Rainbow Six Quarantine" was also postponed to the same date.

Far Cry 6 was originally scheduled to launch on February 18, 2021, but no firm date was set after Quarantine was pushed back to fiscal year 2020-21 in 2019. Ubisoft had said in a conference call following the earnings announcement that both titles should be released in the first half of the fiscal year, or between April 1 and September 30, 2021, but with the postponement, both titles are now expected to be released after April 1, 2021.

"We know you are all eager to get your hands on 'Far Cry 6,'" a tweet from the game's official account read, "but in this unprecedented global situation, while we focus on the well-being of our team, to make this the game you are eager to play We would like to let you know that more time has been given to us."

The good news is that such delays are entirely the result of COVID-19 and not due to specific issues in the development process. Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, said, "These two games would have launched [on schedule] even without COVID."

"We're very happy with the way they turned out," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, "and we're very happy with the way they turned out.
