Nvidia May Delay RTX 3060 Ti Until December 2 to Undercut AMD RX 6000 GPU

Following initial reports that Nvidia may be preparing to release the unannounced RTX 3060 Ti on November 17, the day before AMD's RX 6800 XT and RX 6800, EXPreview reports a slight delay in the debut of the mid-range 30 series and is likely to appear on December 2.

The first of two rumors today comes from MyDrivers (via Videocardz), which claims a November 17, 2020 release date for the RTX 3060 Ti. This would mean that Nvidia would release an all-new RTX 30 series graphics card one day before AMD's RX 6800 XT and RX 6800.

However, this tentative date did not last long. Shortly after, EXPreview (via Momomo_US) posted an update stating that the RTX 3060 Ti's release date had been changed to December 2. Unlike the delay scheduled for the RTX 3070, this is only a two-week delay.

Of course, neither date has been confirmed. Of course, the same goes for the card itself; Nvidia has yet to officially announce its intentions regarding the RTX 3060 Ti, or even the RTX 3060, but recent leaks have convinced us that such a card exists.

Most recently, the RTX 3060 Ti appeared in TechPowerUp's GPU-Z verification entry. The entry suggests that it has 4,864 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory, placing it just below the $499 RTX 3070.

A slight delay in Nvidia's plans makes sense for the GPU giant, as Nvidia is currently working to not only improve the availability of its new graphics cards, but also fight AMD's RX 6000 series, as the GPUs are still being released and missing in November It also seems to be looking to compete with AMD's RX 6000 series.

The AMD RX 6900, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6800 were officially announced last week and will be available starting November 18; AMD claims that the RDNA 2 architecture will give it a competitive advantage over Nvidia's high-end Ampere graphics cards, and the RX 6800 will also be available at a lower price. also claims that it will be available at a lower cost.

We need to see for ourselves before we can claim that both companies have won this generation, but if past experience is any indication, there may be some last-minute maneuvering by both companies to get the best position in terms of performance and price.

At present, AMD cannot offer a direct response to the supposed RTX 3060 Ti. The cheapest option from the Red Team is the RX 6800 at $579. Perhaps that's why Nvidia is trying to sneak in an affordable Ti before the end of the year. But the big question remains: will Nvidia be able to produce enough quantities to meet demand?
