General
Arc'teryx's massive Liquid Freezer II 420 cooler is designed for CPUs that like to blast heat.

For the most part, all-in-one liquid coolers come in three general sizes: 120mm (single fan), 240mm (two fans), and 360mm (three fans). The 360mm was not big enough for some customers, apparently, and the company asked for a larger size. Then came the new Liquid Freezer II 420.

It is still a three-fan cooling unit, but instead of the 120mm fan found in the Liquid Freezer II 360 model, a larger 140mm fan is attached to the radiator. Will the Liquid Freezer II ever be released?" and they were constantly inquiring about it. Yes, it is.

The end-to-end length of the radiator is 458mm, but 420 sounds cooler (and matches the combined size of the three 140mm Arctic-P fans.) Arctic claims this is their largest and most powerful cooler, but that's shortsighted! The Arctic-P is the largest and most powerful cooler the company has ever produced. It is also one of the largest AIO coolers ever made. The only 420mm class AIO I can think of is AlphaCool's huge, refillable Eisabaer unit. I think a cooling showdown is in order.

Arctic introduced the Liquid Freezer II line last year; the Liquid Freezer II 280 won an Editor's Choice award from our friends at Tom's Hardware, but with a larger radiator and another fan, the new It's not hard to imagine how much better the 420 model will perform, which is especially appealing as Intel draws more and more power as it pursues higher clocks on its aging 14nm node.

The Liquid Freezer II 420 is compatible with all the latest sockets, including AMD's AM4 for Ryzen CPUs and Intel's LGA 1200 (and even LGA 115x, etc.) for Comet Lake processors. It also has sleeve cables, integrated cable management, and a PWM controller pump that Arctic says was developed in-house. [Despite its size, the Freezer II 420 is moderately priced at $140 (€120). Corsair's H115i RGB Platinum, for example, is our top pick at the moment, but it is smaller and sells for around $160.
