When Teardown was still in development, developer Dennis Gustafson would occasionally post screenshots and videos of his work in progress. One time there was a spider, but then it disappeared. Where did the spider go? At the time, Gustafson explained that it was for a prototype.
"I am glad you like the spider. I liked it too. But who says you can't steal things from an underground lab full of monstrous spiders?"
In fact, Teardown did not start with spiders. But they were still there! In the first few days of the game, the community figured out how to add spiders with a simple script. Let's fill our boots with spiders!
If you want to see the spiders in action, just watch the first half of this video. Spiders can seek out, damage, and kill players. Unfortunately, trying this yourself will only result in failure.
Why does the trick not work anymore? Spider was removed in yesterday's update, and Gustafsson explained why on the game's Discord: "Spider has been removed. Spider has been removed. It doesn't look or act as we intended, so we removed it to avoid ruining the comeback in the game". [Comeback? Spider confirmed!
