Apex Legends" Preloads on Steam Ahead of Today's Release

Season 7 of Apex Legends is available today, and with it comes the long-awaited Steam debut of Respawn's battle royale. The game will not go live until later this evening, but you can now preload "Apex Legends" on Valve's platform, so be ready to play as soon as 8:00 PM Japan time / 4:00 AM GMT.

Sorry, Brits. Unless we can pull an all-nighter, landing on Olympus will be tomorrow.

Apex Legends will be fully cross-play enabled when it comes to Steam and should be cross-progressable between Steam, Origin, and whatever console account you may have. If you log into Steam during Season 7, you can even hang cute Half-Life and Portal-themed charms on your guns.

But there's more to Season 7 than keychains. Today's update adds a big new addition to Respawn's battle royale: King's Canyon is gone (it was temporarily in storage) and Olympus has been added. The new Skyborn map boasts gorgeous views, a larger arena, and new vehicles that can slam turrets on top of each other.

Horizon, a Scottish time-traveling scientist, also debuts today. This new legend boasts abilities that will nail the enemy team, allowing him to soar softer and higher in his battles with the enemy, using passive and active tools. Finally, Season 7 introduces social "clubs" and unlocks new cosmetic battle passes.

Full patch notes for the new season are here; Apex Legends is available preloaded on Steam and has a download size of approximately 53 GB.
