Surgeon Simulator 2's Clinical Trials update lets you compete for the golden heart that adorns your bookshelf.

Now's your chance to prove your prowess in next week's Clinical Trials update, a five-day scalpel showdown that has little to do with surgery but could earn you a grizzly golden trophy.

The weeklong "Clinical Trials" simulation showdown will take place next Monday, November 9, with a new challenge map added each day. Other challenges include stacking towers of cardboard boxes, shredding hot dogs, a balloon penalty shootout, and a vintage arcade game in which you drop pennies off a shelf.

It's not the kind of thing that will earn you a doctorate in medicine. But you might be able to put one of the odd centerpieces on your desk; Bossa accepts video submissions of people taking on each day's challenge and, mixed in with the controllers and goodies, the fastest fingers on Friday will receive a golden (or at least, a gilded bronze made) heart trophy is also given away.

However, it is not unusual for "Surgeon Simulator 2" to be loose with its premise. Luke Winkie, in his review, found that the sequel "has less to do with surgery than its predecessor. When he wondered what a "Surgeon Simulator" without surgery would be like, I don't think the parlor game Olympics was on his mind, but at least he might be able to give someone a goofball tool.
