32-inch IPS gaming monitor for $200" This is a great way to enjoy large-screen 1080p on a budget.

Fortunately, the days when "IPS" automatically meant "expensive" in the realm of monitors, gaming or otherwise, have passed; just look at LG's 32-inch monitor (model 32ML600M-B) on sale for $199.99 on Amazon.

According to Amazon, that's $50 less than the list price; it's been on sale for $199.99 since February (whenever you see a bargain on Amazon, it's worth checking the price history for that item on CamelCamelCamel).

Still, it's a good price for a big IPS panel, so we picked it up here; with a native resolution of 1080p, there's no need to pair it with a huge graphics card. The pixel pitch is a bit large at 32 inches, but it's a great budget option for a large screen.

IPS (in-plane switching) is generally superior to TN (twisted nematic) in terms of image quality; according to LG, the 32ML600M-B covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is good for accurate color reproduction.

For gaming, it offers a 75 Hz refresh rate, which is not spectacular, but a bit better than 60 Hz, with a 5 ms response time (gray-to-gray). Beyond that, there are no special features such as FreeSync or G-Sync support. And while it does support the HDR10 standard, the maximum brightness is 300 nits, so it won't knock your knickers off with HDR content.

In short, this is not the fanciest gaming monitor on the block, but it is big, has an IPS display, and is relatively affordable at its current selling price.
