'Phasmophobia' Will Stay in Early Access Longer Than Planned

Early Access for "Phasmophobia" may last longer than planned.

Speaking to IGN, DKnighter, the sole member of Kinetic Games, explained that they had originally planned a fairly short journey through Early Access. The plan was to add a few new maps, one or two new ghost types, and new equipment to play with, and then we would be ready for official release.

"But due to the popularity of the game, everyone's expectations are rising," Dknighter wrote. [Dknighter was surprised by the response to "Phasmophobia" and said that he had expected the game to only recoup its costs at best. But now that PC games are unpredictable, "Phasmophobia" has quickly become one of Steam's top-selling games.

"We planned for the server capacity to reach a maximum of 500 players on launch day and drop from there. Now the game has sold over 2 million and peaked at about 90,000 players"

.

The extra time in Early Access will be used to focus on enhancing the game with many stability and bug fixes planned for the game's next update. After that, the new content will be combined into a major update, which will be pushed to the beta clients before going live.

But if you want a peek at what is in the making, Kinetic Games maintains a public development Trello board.
