Last week, our sister site GamesRadar reported on a recent job posting by EA Motive, which is looking for a programmer for an "upcoming Star Wars action game." The project was described as an "exciting new IP" and work was to begin "immediately." Today, however, the studio said on Twitter that the listing was incorrect and that it is not actually working on a new Star Wars game at all.
Motive Studios previously worked on Star Wars Battlefront 2 and recently had considerable success with Star Wars: Squadrons. General manager Patrick Kraus said last month that the company was working on "several unannounced projects," making the expectation that a new Star Wars film was in the works quite reasonable.
The job posting in question has also been changed, with all references to Star Wars removed. In fact, there is no mention of a specific game or series at all, not even an indication that it is a new one or a sequel of some sort.
It's a long shot, but Electronic Arts' Q2 2021 earnings call will be held tomorrow, at which time we may hear something more about what Motive is up to. We will let you know at that time.
